In an article published on October 31, 2026, GameRant editor Rei Penber analyzes how the Boruto series is laying the groundwork for the restoration of the ninja world's most prominent lineages. According to the publication, while much of the overarching narrative centers on the alien Otsutsuki clan, the manga is quietly building a foundation for the Uzumaki and Uchiha clans to regain their historic dominance in Konoha.

Regarding the Uzumaki clan, GameRant points out that its original homeland in Uzushiogakure was destroyed in past wars, forcing surviving members to scatter. In the current era, the clan is formally recognized within Konoha around the household of Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Uzumaki. Alongside Boruto Uzumaki and Himawari Uzumaki, the adoption of Kawaki expands the household to three next-generation members, which the article argues sets up long-term numerical growth for the clan over future generations.

The article also highlights the future of the Uchiha clan following its historical devastation by Itachi Uchiha. While Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Uchiha produced a single heir in Sarada Uchiha, Penber emphasizes the presence of the Shin Uchiha clones residing at the Konoha orphanage under Kabuto's supervision. As these clones develop individual personalities and integrate into Konoha society, they represent a key mechanism for restoring the Uchiha clan's numbers and standing.

Providing narrative background, GameRant contrasts the revival of these two families with the historical decline of the Senju clan. While the otherworldly Otsutsuki clan remains the ultimate threat at the peak of the universe's power scaling, the article argues that the Uzumaki and Uchiha will comfortably stand as the two preeminent mortal clans protecting the Hidden Leaf.

Looking forward, the article notes that current manga developments in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex focus heavily on Sarada Uchiha in combat against Hidari, alongside setups for Sasuke Uchiha's eventual return. The feature concludes that under illustrator Mikio Ikemoto and creator Masashi Kishimoto, both legendary clans are positioned to play a central role in the story's climax.
