On November 2, 2026, a discussion posted on Reddit by user ProfessionalStage324 sparked debate over the treatment of Sarada Uchiha in the manga Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. The post asserts that series artist Mikio Ikemoto and the story developers consistently undermine the main female lead, failing to deliver the character development and narrative respect that her role as an Uchiha demands.

The fan critique highlights several issues regarding Sarada's characterization and visual representation. According to the post, Sarada's high potential is repeatedly diminished through narrative choices and art decisions. The author points to toxic fandom reactions regarding her design at age 15, noting that critics attack her short haircut or judge her against traditional character tropes, which detracts from her standing as the main female protagonist.

A major focus of the Reddit post is the romantic subplot involving Sarada, Sumire Kakei, and Boruto Uzumaki. The user argues that forcing Sumire into a love triangle serves little narrative purpose beyond placing female characters in competition for the male protagonist's attention. Rather than fleshing out Sarada's romantic dynamic with Boruto organically, this writing choice is said to reduce the independent agency of both female characters.

In terms of combat abilities and intelligence, the fan argues that Boruto: Two Blue Vortex fails to highlight Sarada's strategic mind. Even though she possesses the powerful Mangekyo Sharingan ability known as Ohirume, the story imposes immediate limitations that prevent her from achieving full effectiveness. The post draws a direct comparison to Sakura Haruno's writing in the original Naruto series, claiming both female leads suffer from similar narrative neglect.

Sarada Uchiha is the daughter of Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, making her a crucial figure in the next generation of ninja. Throughout Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and its time-skip sequel Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, her stated goal has been to follow in Naruto Uzumaki's footsteps and become Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. She is also one of the few individuals whose memories were unaffected by Eida's Omnipotence.

Discussions regarding character writing, power scaling, and character design remain central topics within the Boruto community. As monthly chapters of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex continue publication in V Jump, fans regularly discuss how artist Mikio Ikemoto and supervisor Masashi Kishimoto will shape the ultimate growth of key characters like Sarada, Boruto, and Kawaki.
