On October 28, 2026, pop culture outlet GameRant published an analytical ranking by writer Hamza Ahmad evaluating six new-generation characters from the Boruto series who have either already surpassed or hold the potential to exceed the power of Konohagakure's Hokage. The feature argues that power scaling in the new era has elevated several young ninjas and village residents well beyond the standard benchmark set by historical Kage.

At the bottom of the list, GameRant places Mitsuki in sixth spot, citing his Sage Transformation and genetic enhancements by Orochimaru. The author claims Mitsuki can already overcome acting Hokage Shikamaru Nara as well as past leaders like Tobirama Senju, Tsunade, and Kakashi Hatake. In fifth place is Himawari Uzumaki, whom the publication highlights as a Tailed Beast Incarnation following Kurama's reincarnation within her after Naruto's fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki, noting her ability to fight Jura directly.

Sarada Uchiha takes fourth place in the outlet's assessment. GameRant emphasizes her Mangekyo Sharingan ability, Ohirume, which generates black holes to crush opponents, alongside her remaining potential to awaken Susanoo and her narrative goal of becoming the 9th Hokage. Boruto Uzumaki is ranked third, with the author highlighting his Karma from Momoshiki Otsutsuki, training under Sasuke Uchiha and Kashin Koji, and combat prowess that eclipses Code and the combined strength of the Five Kage.

The top two positions are held by Kawaki and Daemon. GameRant places Kawaki second due to his mastery of Isshiki Otsutsuki's Karma, Kokugan, Sukunahikona, and Daikokuten. Daemon takes the top spot; while not a traditional shinobi, he resides in Konoha and possesses Shibai Otsutsuki's Shinjutsu, allowing him to reflect damage and killing intent. The author argues that Daemon's unique abilities place his combat effectiveness above even legendary figures like Naruto Uzumaki.

In terms of background, the position of Hokage in Konohagakure represents the highest leadership role, historically occupied by figures such as Hashirama Senju, Tobirama Senju, Hiruzen Sarutobi, Minato Namikaze, Tsunade, Kakashi Hatake, Naruto Uzumaki, and currently Shikamaru Nara. The narrative of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, authored by Masashi Kishimoto and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto in V Jump, has introduced Otsutsuki entity powers that drastically alter traditional power dynamics within the shinobi world.
